The All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Wednesday, June 10, formally inaugurate its National Campaign Council for the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the crucial poll.
According to a statement issued on Monday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Kashim Shettima Hall of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, beginning at 12 noon.
The National Campaign Council is chaired by Uba Sani, while the President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, will serve as Co-Chairman.
The Leader of the Senate, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, is the Secretary of the council.
The council, which comprises serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other prominent party leaders, has been mandated to coordinate and drive the APC’s campaign activities ahead of the governorship election.
To ensure effective planning and execution of its campaign strategy, the party has constituted several subcommittees covering key operational areas, including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement, logistics, protocol, media and publicity, security, women’s mobilisation, youth mobilisation, and secretariat functions.
The APC said the inauguration marks a significant step in its preparations for the election and is expected to kick-start wider mobilisation efforts across Ekiti State aimed at securing victory at the polls.
Party leaders, stakeholders, and members of the campaign structure are expected to attend the event as the APC formally begins its push for the governorship contest.
