Residents and businesses in Trademore, America International School, Galadimawa, SunCity, Sabon Lugbe and other parts of Abuja are expected to experience power interruption on Tuesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out urgent maintenance at its Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

TCN, in a notice issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, said the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place from 12:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as part of efforts to address technical issues at the transmission facility.

According to the company, its engineers will carry out maintenance on the 60MVA 132/33kV transformer during the exercise.

The engineers will also attend to a hot spot identified on the 33kV L32 Blue-Phase current transformer, a technical intervention TCN said requires the scheduled maintenance window.

TCN explained that the exercise would affect electricity supply to customers in several areas, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply power during the maintenance period.

The affected areas include Trademore, Sabon Lugbe and environs, America International School, Galadimawa, SunCity and environs, as well as Kabusa Garden Estate, Sabon Lugbe and surrounding areas.

The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused by the temporary outage, stressing that the maintenance is necessary to address the identified issues at the Kukwaba substation.
