The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwa Wike, has approved the commencement of a comprehensive review of books and other educational resources currently used in schools across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC), Dr. Neemat Abdulrahim, disclosed this at the opening of the 31st FCT Annual Book Fair held at the Education Resource Centre in Abuja during the week.

Abdulrahim said the review was aimed at ensuring that learning materials used in FCT schools remained relevant and consistent with the new curriculum.

She explained that the Centre was working towards producing an updated list of approved books and teaching schemes that would better align with the revised curriculum.

According to her, the initiative would help strengthen teaching and learning by ensuring that schools have access to educational resources that meet current academic requirements.

The ERC Director also expressed appreciation to Wike for his support for the development of education in the FCT, particularly his commitment to improving the quality of educational resources available to schools.

Abuja Times reports that the annual book fair, which brought together publishers, educators, parents, teachers and learners, provided a platform for stakeholders to access educational materials and promote a stronger reading culture across the Territory.
