TCN Rebuilds Three Fallen Towers, Restores Power Link to Keffi, Akwanga

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the 132kV Karu–Keffi–Akwanga line after reconstructing three towers that collapsed during heavy rainfall and strong winds earlier this month.

TCN announced on Wednesday that reconstruction of towers T78, T79 and T80 was completed at 5:31 p.m. on October 28, restoring the transmission link serving the 132/33kV substations in Keffi and Akwanga.

The towers collapsed on October 7, 2026, following heavy rainfall and strong winds, affecting the infrastructure supplying the two transmission stations.

The restoration re-established the transmission pathway to the Keffi and Akwanga stations. However, TCN did not specify whether electricity supply to consumers had been fully restored or disclose the number of customers affected by the incident.

The company said its maintenance crew worked to reconstruct the damaged towers and return the line to service.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening and maintaining the national transmission network to support reliable electricity delivery across the country.
