President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly completed Collector Roads 01 and 02 in Mabushi District, describing the project as another milestone in the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration on Friday, the President said the roads would ease movement, eliminate long-standing traffic bottlenecks and improve connectivity for residents and businesses across the capital city.
“We are not just opening two roads. We are opening up Abuja,” Tinubu said, noting that improved road infrastructure would boost productivity, stimulate economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents.
He thanked FCT residents for their patience during the construction period and urged them to safeguard the new infrastructure for the benefit of future generations.
The President also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects across the nation’s capital.
“I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it. Your energy, your insistence on delivery and your refusal to accept excuses are why the FCT is transforming under this administration,” he said.
The commissioning forms part of a 31-day project inauguration programme marking the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration. According to Wike, the Mabushi roads are the 13th project commissioned under the initiative, following the recent inauguration of the Jahi-Gwarinpa Interchange.
Speaking at the event, Wike attributed the pace of development in the FCT to the President’s focused leadership and unwavering support.
“When you have courageous, assertive and result-oriented leadership, the subordinate has no option but to deliver,” the minister said.
He described road infrastructure as the foundation of development, noting that the newly completed roads have already stimulated housing and other investments within the district.
“Road is the bedrock of development. The infrastructure has attracted new housing and economic activities to the area,” he stated.
Wike also pledged to present the President with a comprehensive list of roads delivered during the 31-day commissioning exercise, including projects executed in areas occupied by members of opposition political parties.
Earlier, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, thanked President Tinubu for his commitment to infrastructure development and praised Wike’s leadership in transforming Abuja. She called on residents to protect public infrastructure to ensure it continues to serve future generations.
