The FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB) has announced plans to commence the vaccination and inoculation of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise this weekend in Abuja.
The exercise will take place at the Permanent Hajj Transit Camp, Bassan Jiwa, located near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to the Board, intending pilgrims from Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje and the headquarters of the Board are scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, while those from Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS), and the Annex are to report on Sunday, April 12, 2026. All participants are expected at the venue by 8:00 a.m. on their respective days.
Speaking to journalists, the Director of the Board, Kadiri Edah, described the vaccination exercise as compulsory and critical for all intending pilgrims, noting that it is a prerequisite for obtaining the e-yellow card required for entry into Saudi Arabia.
He explained that the immunisation programme is designed to protect pilgrims against diseases such as cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM), yellow fever, influenza, poliomyelitis and other infectious conditions that could be contracted during the Hajj.
Edah also urged pilgrims to come along with the original receipts issued upon payment for their Hajj seats. He further directed those still holding their international passports to submit them immediately to the Board’s officials for processing.
The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and safe pilgrimage, calling on all intending pilgrims to comply fully with the guidelines and schedule for the exercise.
