The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB) has commenced the registration of intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj exercise, with a minimum initial deposit of N7.5 million required for participation.
The Director of the Board, Malam Kadiri Edah, announced the commencement of the registration in Abuja during a chat with journalists.
According to him, prospective pilgrims are expected to obtain a bank draft of N7,500,000 from any commercial bank, payable to the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abuja, and submit it on or before September 25, 2026, the deadline set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Edah explained that all bank drafts must be submitted at the Board’s headquarters in Gudu District, near the FCT Judicial Service Complex, where the registration process will be completed.
He said applicants must submit completed registration forms alongside a valid international passport with validity extending beyond October 2027, a photocopy of their National Identification Number (NIN) slip, four recent passport photographs with a white background while wearing dark clothing, and a photocopy of a guarantor’s valid identity card accompanied by one passport photograph and valid contact details.
The Director stressed that the Board does not accept cash payments or proxy registrations, urging intending pilgrims to comply strictly with the registration guidelines and deadline to avoid disqualification.
He advised interested residents of the FCT to complete the process early to ensure a smooth and seamless preparation for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
