As preparations intensify for the forthcoming Area Council elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has officially flagged off its e-registration exercise, with party leaders expressing confidence in victory at the polls.
The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, declared that the unity and cohesion within the ruling party were strong indicators that the APC was firmly on the path to victory in next month’s elections.
She made the assertion at the flag-off ceremony of the APC e-registration exercise held at the Apo Community Town Hall, Abuja on Monday.
Addressing party stakeholders and members, Mahmoud described the e-registration initiative as a major milestone in the APC’s commitment to inclusiveness, innovation, and democratic consolidation. She commended the party leadership for embracing technology to enhance transparency and make political participation more accessible, especially for young people.
According to the Minister, the APC was founded on progressive ideals anchored on broad-based participation, internal democracy, and responsive governance. She explained that the e-registration exercise was not merely aimed at increasing membership figures but at strengthening party structures, updating the membership database, and ensuring that every member had a voice in shaping the party’s future.
Mahmoud also highlighted the unique status of the FCT as the nation’s capital and a cultural melting pot, urging all eligible voters—men, women, youths, and persons living with disabilities—to take advantage of the seamless e-registration process to either register or update their details.
She reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that unity, dynamism, and grassroots participation remained critical to building a strong and people-oriented party.
In his remarks, the FCT Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, said the e-registration exercise was in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the nationwide digital registration of party members.
Usman thanked party faithful for their impressive turnout at the event, noting that the APC continued to set the pace in political organization and innovation, with other parties following its lead.
