2027: North-West Support Group Adopts Goronyo’s Name for Tinubu-Shettima Campaign

By Becky Momodu

Political stakeholders from the seven North-West states have named a new support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s 2027 re-election bid after the Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo.

The group, Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027, was unveiled when a delegation led by Dr. Haris H. M. Jibril visited Goronyo in his office on Wednesday, September 10, 2026.

The stakeholders also asked Goronyo to serve as the organisation’s National Convener and Leader, citing his experience in political mobilisation, youth engagement and grassroots organisation within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They specifically referenced his role as Director of Youth Mobilisation for the North-West during the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and his subsequent service as Zonal Secretary of the North-West APC.

The group said it would mobilise grassroots support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, communicate the achievements of the Renewed Hope administration and encourage constructive participation by Nigerians, particularly youths and women.

Accepting the leadership role, Goronyo commended the stakeholders for their confidence in him and pledged to provide strategic direction for the organisation.

“As the Secretary of the Support Groups of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidential Campaign Council, we will continue to work with you, mobilise Nigerians and engage our people constructively towards ensuring the successful return of our dear President, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, Insha Allah,” he said.

The minister urged members to ensure that political mobilisation remained disciplined, peaceful and focused on listening to citizens and explaining government policies and programmes.

He highlighted major infrastructure projects under the Tinubu administration, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Corridor and Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road.

Goronyo subsequently inaugurated the organisation and charged its members to remain united, accountable and inclusive while working with APC leaders and stakeholders across the North-West to strengthen support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027.
