The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has said all ongoing construction projects will be completed and ready for commissioning before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third year in office.
The Minister stated this while flagging off the construction of the Trans-N2 Highway, connecting the Central Area and Wuse District, on Friday, 3rd October, 2025.
Barr. Wike vowed never to allow the contractors to rest until they delivered on his promise of completing the road with the best quality and within 12 months so that it can be commissioned by Mr. President for his third anniversary.
“Just like the Managing Director of the company handling the project has assured, I’ll be on their neck day and night. We have so many projects to showcase in the third-year anniversary of Mr. President.”
“And I believe that this is one of them. So, Mr. Managing Director and your team, you have a lot of work to do. Don’t bother about the rain; it will soon stop, and then you have to start fully”, the Minister stated.
Given his reasons for prioritizing road construction, Wike said a good roads network is what drives development in any city.
“We have said several times, and we will continue to say, there’s no development in any city without a good network of roads.
“When all the cities are linked with a good network of roads, then you can talk about that city becoming a modern city. Then you talk about development in that city. Road infrastructure attracts investment”, he stressed.
He reassured that, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, no sector will be left behind, saying “By the directive of Mr. President, every sector must be touched. It is for those of you who are primarily in charge that will kick-start it and let us believe that you are serious.
“The ES, FCDA doesn’t sleep; day and night, his phone is not off. The Coordinator of STDD also, his phone is not off. They know the implication of their phones being off. If your phone is off, it means you’re not prepared for the job because I may call you at any time, and that’s the way it is.”
“The only thing we do in our dictionary is to work, and work, and work, and work to the satisfaction of our people”, Wike added.
The Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, in her vote of thanks, described the project as a testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which continues to translate into practical dividends for FCT residents.
While expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to the FCT and the FCT Minister for his focus on developing the nation’s capital, Dr. Mahmoud acknowledged the continued support of the National Assembly members through collaboration and legislative backing, stressing that their unwavering commitment has been instrumental to the overall development of the Territory.
