President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja, cutting his work vacation in Europe short.
The Presidential jet landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 6:50 pm Nigerian Time on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Tinubu was welcomed by prominent figures including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun.
The President had departed for France on September 4, 2025, initially planning to split his annual holiday between France and the United Kingdom. However, he concluded his vacation ahead of schedule, three days earlier than planned, to resume official duties in Abuja.
During his stay in Paris, Tinubu held a significant private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. The two leaders reviewed key areas of bilateral cooperation and agreed to strengthen their partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability, touching on trade, security, and diplomatic ties.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu’s early return underscores his commitment to governance and responsiveness to national matters. The President is expected to immediately engage in national programs and policy matters upon his return.
Tinubu’s visit to France highlights Nigeria’s growing role in global affairs, particularly in Europe, reinforcing efforts to expand strategic partnerships. The discussions with President Macron are likely to influence future collaborations in economic development, investment, and multilateral cooperation.
