The House of Representatives has scheduled an emergency sitting for Monday, June 15, 2026, to consider a bill seeking a further extension of the implementation period for the capital component of the 2025 Appropriation Act.
According to a notice issued to all members of the House and signed by the Acting Clerk, Ibrahim Sidi, the emergency sitting will commence at 11:00 a.m. and is being convened pursuant to Order Five, Rule 2(2) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.
The primary agenda of the session is the consideration of the Appropriation (Repeal and Enactment) Act, 2025 (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2026, which seeks to extend the implementation deadline for the capital aspect of the 2025 budget from June 30 to September 30, 2026.
The proposed extension is aimed at providing additional time for the completion and execution of capital projects captured in the budget, amid ongoing implementation efforts by government agencies.
The notice directed all Honourable Members to accord the sitting priority attention and ensure their attendance.
The planned emergency session underscores the National Assembly’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of budgetary provisions and the completion of critical infrastructure and development projects across the country.
The House is currently on recess but is expected to reconvene specifically for the consideration of the amendment bill.
