…As NCS generated over ₦6bn, NIS deported 1,282 Nigerians
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) responded to 589 road traffic crashes nationwide in September, 2025.
The NOA DG made this known while speaking during the monthly joint security briefing held at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, 13th October, 2025.
Mallam Issa-Onilu said that the Nigeria’s security agencies, through intelligence-led operations, cross-sectoral collaboration, and citizen engagement, achieved a series of tactical and strategic outcomes that reaffirm the government’s commitment to the protection of lives and property.
According to him, the Corps also rescued 3,848 people (1,834 with injuries, 2,014 without injuries), adding that 252 fatalities were recorded from these incidents.
In the month under review, he said FRSC has recovered 10 stolen vehicles, flagged and traced via the National Vehicle Identification System (NVIS) portal.
“Launched an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), marking a complete transition to paperless documentation; organised 13 mobile court operations and conducted wide-reaching public safety campaigns, including multilingual jingles and sensitisation town halls.
The NOA DG further disclosed that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated ₦658.6 billion in revenue in September through enhanced enforcement and digital systems.
NCS also intercepted firearms, industrial drones, and high-risk contraband in the Southwest region; launched a One-Stop-Shop platform to streamline cargo clearance and boost trade efficiency.
On the gains made by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mallam Issa-Onilu said it recorded critical anti-human trafficking operations, including the interception of 20 victims at Jibiya and 48 Nigerians repatriated from Niger Republic.
According to him, the NIS processed over 13,000 visas, deported 1,282 Nigerians, and intercepted 20 stowaways and 14 persons of interest, reinforcing border security and migrant protection.
The Nigeria’s security, intelligence, enforcement and regulatory agencies sustained a robust tempo of operations in September 2025, consolidating on gains and further degrading the capabilities of criminal and terrorist groups.
The Armed Forces rescued 76 kidnapped victims, 30 terrorists surrendered, insurgent leaders arrested in Niger, Sokoto and Anambra states.
