The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has again shifted the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course for prospective Corps Members deployed to Sokoto and Niger States.

The Orientation Course, which was earlier scheduled to commence in the affected states, will now begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Scheme announced.

According to information from the Office of the Director, Information and Public Relations of the NYSC, Ms. Caroline Embu, the postponement was necessitated by ongoing renovation works at the NYSC Orientation Camps in Sokoto and Niger States being carried out by the respective State Governments.

The NYSC Management said the adjustment became necessary to ensure that the facilities are ready and conducive for the Corps Members before the commencement of the Orientation Course.

It further announced that the Cut-Off/Swearing-in Ceremony for the affected Corps Members has been rescheduled to Friday, August 14, 2026, while the Closing Ceremony will now take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The Scheme urged all prospective Corps Members affected by the adjustment to take note of the new dates and make the necessary arrangements for their mobilisation and movement to the camps.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective Corps Members safe travels to their respective camps.

He also advised them to avoid night journeys and exercise caution while travelling to their destinations.
