As members of the public are expressing concerns over the priority attention given to road construction in the nation’s capital, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has assured that no sector will be left untouched.
Speaking at the official flag-off of the Access Roads SILS 02 and SILS 03 in Mabushi District on Monday, Wike dismissed claims that his administration is neglecting other critical sectors.
The Minister maintained that road construction was a priority, but emphasized that no sector will be left untouched.
According to the former Governor of Rivers State, his Administration’s intervention cuts across education, health, and transportation.
“So many people have accused us of prioritizing road construction. But one good thing is that at least they have identified that something is being done. We are not concentrating on only roads. We are also focusing on transportation, on health and education. People should realize that we had a lot of challenges when we came, but because of our determination, we believe that no sector will be left untouched”, he said.
While appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike reaffirms his commitment to providing world-class infrastructure that will equate FCT with some of the great cities of the world.
In his words, he said, “We give God Almighty appreciation to be here to construct this very important road, and in terms of infrastructure, Abuja would compete with other known cities of the world, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ends.
“I should think out of the box. Mr. President will be tired and lose confidence in me if all I bring are excuses
“Ours is to encourage our people to make sure that everything Mr. President has outlined has to be concluded, through our support. We are here as agents to implement Mr. President’s vision and his mission and what the Renewed Hope Agenda has for the people of Nigeria, and in particular, the FCT”.
He emphasized that being a Minister he is an agent of the President, saddled with the task of ensuring that all of the administration’s goals for the FCT are met.
Abuja Times reports that the Minister also inspected work on the construction of the Court of Appeal complex in Dakibiyu and the Judges’ Quarters in Gishiri on the same day, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work.
