The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the governorship election in Ekiti State, on Tuesday screened the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, who is seeking a re-election.
The screening exercise held at Amor Hotel, Katampe – Abuja, had the Governor as the first aspirant to be screened among the four aspirants contending for the party’s ticket.
In a chat with newsmen after his screening, Governor Oyebanji commended the Committee for doing a great job.
“The committee has done their work and it’s part of the protocols for clearance. So, they went through my credentials and they asked questions and I responded.
“I must commend them (the Screening Committee) for a job well-done and I must also commend the APC party for ensuring that this process is put in place”, he said.
The governor emphasized that the screening will save the party the troubles of fielding a candidate who is not eligible.
“You know, it’s going to save the party from a lot of problems. I must commend them. I have absolute confidence in the party to have put this together. This is just the screening committee, there’s going to be an appeal committee and an election committee proper”.
While expressing confidence in the party to conduct a free and fair primary, the governor called on the good people of Ekiti to support him and the government.
Spark News Naija reports that Hon. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawunmi was also screened while Engr. Ojo Olubunmi Kayode and Hon. Omolayo Oluremi are due for screening on Wednesday 24th, 2025.
