The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) authorities have resealed Divine Hope Orphanage Home in Kagini, Abuja, as investigations into alleged child trafficking activities linked to the facility continue.
The facility was sealed as part of ongoing efforts by relevant FCT authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding allegations of irregularities in the operation of the orphanage and the handling of children under its care.
The resealing was carried out on Wednesday by the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat in collaboration with the FCT Police Command after it was discovered to have resumed operations without official authorisation, months after it was first sealed in January 2026.
It followed earlier enforcement action by the authorities, with officials returning to the facility as investigations into the allegations progressed.
Authorities are expected to scrutinise the activities of the orphanage, including its management, documentation and processes involving children in its custody, as part of the ongoing probe.
The development underscores the FCT Administration’s renewed efforts to protect vulnerable children and ensure that orphanages and other child-care institutions operate in line with approved regulations and safeguarding requirements.
The authorities have yet to disclose the full details of the investigation or announce the outcome of the probe, while relevant agencies continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
The resealing of Divine Hope Orphanage Home is expected to remain in force pending further action by the authorities and the conclusion of investigations into the alleged child trafficking activities.
Speaking on the development, the Permanent Secretary, Hajia Asmau Muktar Esq., expressed deep dismay at the conduct of the orphanage’s proprietor and declared that unscrupulous persons would find no hiding place under the administration of FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
“The orphanage is operating illegally as it has been sealed since January,” she stated. She commended the Police and members of the public who alerted the authorities to the unwholesome activities taking place at the home.
