The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to partner with the private sector to operate bus terminals in Abuja, with the aim of eliminating the “one chance” syndrome by ensuring vehicles are identifiable.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, disclosed this while inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja.
He said the Administration will initially operate the terminals with its own fleet of vehicles, painted in Abuja colours, before partnering with private individuals to contribute buses and taxis.
Wike commended the contractor working on the Central Business District (CBD) Bus terminal, noting its high quality and uniqueness compared to previously commissioned terminals.
However, Wike expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on the 15km Pai-Gomani road project in Kwali, citing issues with unauthorized cost variation and lack of communication between the Satellite Town Development Department (STDD) and the contractor.
