The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing abandoned infrastructure projects in Abuja, including Guzape II (A11) and Maitama II, which were awarded over a decade ago but stalled due to funding gaps.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the Guzape II project, Wike emphasized that government is a continuum and it is the duty of his administration to ensure the completion of these projects.
“Completing these projects will help decongest the city and unlock more economic opportunities for the Territory,” he said.
Wike also addressed concerns over a purported circular directing schools in the FCT to shut down, stating that he was unaware of the directive and had not approved it. He has suspended the Mandate Secretary of Education and vowed to sanction those responsible for the unauthorized action.
The FCT Minister stressed that security agencies are working to ensure the safety of lives and property in the nation’s capital, and there is no credible threat warranting the closure of schools.
He described the action as “unimaginable” and “very unfortunate,” emphasizing that heads will roll.
