The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has charged residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to provide infrastructural development for the nation’s capital.
The Minister, who gave the charge on Monday, 6th October, 2025, while flagging off construction of the Mohammed Isma Road Extension in the Asokoro District of Abuja, stressed the need for residents to be involved in the City’s transformation.
Wike emphasized that part of the support also involved the residents playing their parts through due payment of all forms of taxes.
While disclosing that the numerous projects across the Territory have continued to generate employment opportunities for the teeming youths, he pointed out that the projects won’t be possible if residents don’t pay taxes.
“You too should pay us what you are owing us. All these won’t be possible if you don’t pay your taxes, so try and pay your taxes”, he appealed.
Wike reassured residents that all sectors of the Territory will benefit from the infrastructural and service provision of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the FCTA is working hard to actualize his mandate and vision for the FCT.

In her remarks, the Acting Head of FCT Civil Service, Mrs. Nancy Nathan, reiterated the FCTA’s commitment to carrying out its mandate of ensuring socio-economic development of the FCT.

Abuja Times gathered that the project was approved by the Federal Executive Council and awarded to Messrs Global Spectrum Energy Services Limited in August 2025.
Expected to be completed in 14 months, the scope of work includes standard roads connecting other streets, street light installation, telecommunication ducts, and water supply network, among others.
