The Presidency has taunted the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, declaring that the former Vice President isn’t going anywhere in the 2027 presidential race.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for the North-East region, Abdulhamid Yahaya Abba, made the remark on Tuesday in Abuja during a meeting with the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
Abba, while speaking on ongoing road projects in the North-East, said Atiku was “not going anywhere,” while challenging the ADC candidate to a debate over the Federal Government’s infrastructure projects in the region.
“I assure you, he’s not going anywhere,” Abba said, referring to Atiku.
He said the people of the North-East would support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, citing the administration’s road infrastructure projects across the region.
According to him, the government’s legacy projects would form the basis of its campaign in the North-East rather than relying solely on political rhetoric.
“We are going to campaign with only Mr. President’s project in the region,” he said.
Abba also challenged Atiku to a public debate on the government’s road projects, particularly the length and scope of roads being constructed in the North-East.
“I challenge him for debate with this Legacy Project. If he will tell me in detail one kilometre road that was constructed by him in the North-East, I assure him I’m going to vote for him,” he said.
The presidential aide further praised Tinubu for appointing Umahi as Minister of Works, describing the minister as the right person for the position and commending his work on infrastructure development in the North-East.
He also assured the minister of the region’s support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying, “We are going to deliver massive votes for Mr. President.”
Abuja Times reports that Abba’s comments comes amid preparations by political parties and candidates for the 2027 presidential election, with Atiku emerging as the ADC’s presidential candidate after joining the opposition coalition.
