The Ministers’ Wives Forum has renovated key facilities at Zuba General Hospital as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery for residents of the community.
The Mandate Secretary, Health Services and Environment Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, commended the Forum for the intervention during the commissioning of the renovated facilities on March 10, 2026.
The renovated facilities include the Medical Director’s office, toilets and the operating theatre of the hospital.
Dr. Fasawe described the project as a commendable initiative that would significantly enhance the quality of healthcare services available to residents of Zuba and surrounding communities.
She also urged residents to make greater use of government-owned health facilities rather than relying on private hospitals, stressing that increased patronage would help strengthen the public healthcare system.
Following the commissioning, the Mandate Secretary led members of the Forum on a tour of the hospital, including the children’s ward, to familiarize them with the facility and its services.
Earlier in her remarks, the Vice President of the Forum, Mrs. Azizat Kemi Alausa, expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for the confidence reposed in their husbands through their ministerial appointments and for their continued support.
She also thanked the Mandate Secretary for encouraging the Forum to renovate hospital facilities instead of its usual practice of distributing gifts to communities.
Mrs. Alausa further called on residents to continue living peacefully and harmoniously, noting that the ongoing fasting period observed by both Christians and Muslims reflects a divine opportunity for unity and reflection.
The traditional ruler of Zuba, HRH Muhammad Saliu, also appreciated the Forum for selecting the hospital as one of its intervention projects.
However, he appealed to the Forum and the FCTA to consider establishing more Primary Health Centres within the Zuba community, explaining that such facilities remain the first point of healthcare for many residents.
The monarch also urged authorities to absorb long-serving casual workers in the hospital into permanent employment under the FCT Administration.
Items distributed during the event included food items, bedsheets, blankets and other essential supplies for patients and residents.
A beneficiary, Mrs. Zainab Yakuku, expressed gratitude to the Ministers’ Wives Forum for renovating the hospital and improving the condition of the facility.
