The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects, emphasizing the need for timely completion and improved quality of life for residents.
Wike made this statement during an extensive inspection tour of ongoing projects across the Territory on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
At the Airport Road-Kuje axis, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of work by Arab Contractors, noting that the project, awarded in 2019, is now back on track and expected to be completed by June 2026. Wike highlighted the project’s potential to boost economic activities in Kuje and the FCT, saying, “Residents are happy, and so are we”.
The Minister also inspected the dualization of the Kuje-Gwagwalada road, being executed by Gilmore Engineering, with 70-80% of work already completed.
Wike emphasized the project’s strategic importance, stating that it will enhance commerce and mobility, making it easier for residents to move between Kuje and Gwagwalada without detouring through Airport Road.
Addressing concerns over waste disposal, Wike acknowledged dissatisfaction with current contractors’ performance, but stressed that waste management is a global challenge that the FCT Administration is committed to solving.
He also dismissed critics as “ill-informed,” saying that the FCT Administration is laying a solid foundation for development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Wike praised residents and local leaders for their support, citing synergy with Area Council Chairmen as pivotal to progress. He emphasized that timely project delivery is crucial, as delays would ultimately harm the people.
