The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Arts and Culture has kicked off the preliminary competition for the 2025 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), with 60 students from 12 secondary schools battling for a chance to represent the capital in Enugu later this month.
The event aims to nurture young talents, build confidence, and promote Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Mandate Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Ibrahim Aminu, emphasized that the competition goes beyond winning, stating, “The preliminary competition is not just about selecting winners, it is about nurturing young talents, building their confidence, and inspiring pride in our shared heritage.”
Director of the FCT Department of Arts and Culture, Ngozi Ogugua, highlighted the significance of NAFEST 2025, saying it promises to be a grand celebration of Nigerian arts and culture, showcasing the nation’s diversity and creative excellence.
The preliminary contest features Children’s Arts and Crafts, Essay Writing, and Cultural Quiz competitions, testing students’ creativity, knowledge, and cultural awareness.
The students are urged to give their best and aim to emerge as national champions in Enugu, with the goal of bringing glory to the FCT at the national level.
