The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has pledged unwavering support for the success of the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Airshow, scheduled to hold from December 2nd to 4th, 2025.
This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who sought Wike’s support for the event.
Wike assured that the FCT Administration will partner with the Ministry of Aviation and deliver an official speech on the opening day to endorse the show, describing it as a “very major show in Abuja”.
He urged Keyamo to liaise with the Transport Secretariat or the FCTA for the use of train and CNG buses, emphasizing that services won’t be free, saying “Nigeria’s problem is free, free, free. Pay for what you use”.
Keyamo disclosed that the airshow will commemorate 100 years of aviation in Nigeria, gathering major aviation stakeholders and the Nigerian Air Force, with the potential of attracting global giants such as Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer.
He stated that the event will not only be an aviation showcase but also a tourism and economic catalyst for Abuja, highlighting the city’s infrastructure, including parts of the Airport Road recently completed by the Administration.
The FCT Minister also assured that the Territory will leverage the airshow to showcase investment opportunities, with complimentary exhibition stands for agencies like the Abuja Tourism Board.
Abuja Times reports that the event is expected to elevate Nigeria’s aviation profile globally, generate revenue through tourism and partnerships, and attract distinguished international guests and corporate delegations.
