The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Education Resource Centre ( ERC) has launched a five-day intensive training program for secondary school teachers across the territory’s six Area Councils, aimed at equipping them to foster an entrepreneurship mindset among students.
The initiative aligns with the new curriculum released by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) and seeks to transform the approach to entrepreneurship education in the FCT.
Declaring the program open on Thursday, Education Secretary Dr. Danlami Hayyo emphasized that the training is a collective effort to prepare learners for a rapidly evolving world, stressing that “entrepreneurship thrives through inclusion, innovation, and empowerment.”
He urged teachers to leverage technology, from online platforms to AI tools, to revolutionize learning. Permanent Secretary Chinwe Okeke noted that the program empowers teachers to nurture self-reliant, innovative learners, laying the groundwork for an economy driven by creativity and resilience.
The training, organized in partnership with UNESCO and CEBAR, focuses on inclusive, practical strategies to make entrepreneurship education accessible to all students, regardless of background.
Participants, including teachers from various FCT secondary schools, praised the initiative and vowed to apply the skills to inspire students to become job creators.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates to 100 participants. The effort is part of the FCT ERC’s commitment to ensuring no one is left behind in the push for sustainable growth.
