Secondary schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have received awareness on drug abuse and bullying.
The initiative aims to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and promote a safe, zero-tolerance environment in schools was organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCTA Chapel, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other stakeholders.
At the workshop held at the FCDA Conference Hall on Thursday 25th September, 2025, experts warned that drug abuse and bullying can have severe and irreversible consequences on students’ health, safety, academics, and future.
Anthony Ogunleye urged students to avoid drugs, emphasizing the long-term negative effects on users.
Ogunleye, who is the Director of Information and Communication, commended the NUJ FCTA Chapel for organizing the initiative and called for more collaborations to amplify the message
NUJ FCT Chairman, Grace Ike, described drug abuse as a menace that can destroy the fabric of schools and society, emphasizing the need for collective action to empower schools and promote a culture of zero tolerance towards drug abuse and bullying.
The highlight of the workshop was the conduct of a live demonstration by NDLEA showcasing various forms of drugs to educate students on their appearance and harmful effects.
